ITRM are pleased to welcome to the team two new apprentices, Zeena Amrouche and Billy Ford. Both apprentices are specialising in IT Service Desk support, undertaking a Level 3 qualification whilst also working within ITRM’s service team.
Both Zeena and Billy took GCSE subjects surrounding IT and Computer Science; therefore, pre-established an understanding and interest in pursuing a career within the IT and Managed Service Provider field. Before leaving education, Zeena and Billy both undertook work experience placements within ITRM. It was during these rotational work experience placements that both of them could learn the ins and outs of the business and responsibilities of each department. Billy and Zeena enjoyed their work experience placements at ITRM so much that they were pleased they could pursue an apprenticeship within the business when they completed their school-based education.
“During my work experience placement I noticed how everyone was so knowledgeable surrounding their jobs but they were also really helpful to anyone that needed it. ITRM seemed like such a fun and welcoming atmosphere to work in.”
- Zeena Amrouche, Apprentice Information Communications Technician.
We are pleased to hear that their initial observations did not disappoint and that the IT Service Desk team have supported both Billy and Zeena to the point where they both feel confident answering the phone to our customer base and attempting to solve tier 1 issues before the end of their very first working week!
“I’m surprised at how comfortable I feel about already answering the phones to customers and attempting to solve tier 1 issues and logging support tickets.Throughout our apprenticeship we will learn how to provide a service for ITRM’s clients who need help with any issues virtually or physically. Some examples of the tier 1 issues we can already solve are password resets, onboarding and offboarding Microsoft 365 accounts and providing access to files when required.”
- Billy Ford, Apprentice Information Communications Technician.
Upon completing their apprenticeship, Billy and Zeena will be offered a full time position with the company, allowing them to further learn and progress through departments. Zeena expresses how her career aspirations involve working her way up to becoming a tier 3 support engineer, obtaining as much information and knowledge as possible as well as being one of the few female support engineers within the heavily male dominated industry. Billy also has strong career goals with the business and is keen to explore becoming an Account Manager, utilising his apprenticeship and skills gained to aid in being the go-to point of contact for ITRM’s clients.
With a training-packed eighteen months ahead of them, ITRM wishes Zeena and Billy the best of luck in beginning their apprenticeship and employment journey with us.
