As part of ITRM’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, a great amount of importance is placed on helping school students and leavers with their journey into the workplace.
In the summer of 2017, ITRM provided several placements to students, designed to provide them with an insight into the various roles available within the IT industry.
For a number of years ITRM have worked alongside several local schools, and in the two years prior, built strong relationships with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Bexley Skills to further this reach and involvement within the local community. In 2017 ITRM welcomed students from Woolwich Polytechnic School, Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive in Eltham and Hurstmere School in Sidcup.
To ensure students found their experience at ITRM most valuable, time was taken to understand every students interests, aspirations and educational background so that a placement schedule could be built to suit them. Following the placement programme, some great feedback was received from one student, who commented – ‘The whole company has broadened my horizons for possible future work. I was also taught many other skills, not just IT. I have learnt the importance of strong communication skills, being confident and lots more that will help me in the future’.
In 2017, ITRM were selected to Champion the Bexley Skills Charter, having demonstrated commitment to work in partnership with other organisations to help bring about higher skills, new jobs and economic growth.
