A Busy Summer for ITRM’s Work Experience Students

As part of ITRM’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, a great amount of importance is placed on helping school students and leavers with their journey into the workplace.

This summer, ITRM have provided several placements to students, designed to provide them with an insight into the various roles available within the IT industry.

For a number of years ITRM have worked alongside several local schools, however, over the last two years the team has built strong relationships with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Bexley Skills to further the reach and involvement within the local community. This summer, ITRM have welcomed students from Woolwich Polytechnic School, Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive in Eltham and Hurstmere School in Sidcup.

To ensure students find their experience at ITRM most valuable, time is taken to understand every students interests, aspirations and educational background so that a placement schedule can be built to suit them. This year, some great feedback was received from one student, who commented – ‘The whole company has broadened my horizons for possible future work. I was also taught many other skills, not just IT. I have learnt the importance of strong communication skills, being confident and lots more that will help me in the future’.

In 2017, ITRM were selected to Champion the Bexley Skills Charter, having demonstrated commitment to work in partnership with other organisations to help bring about higher skills, new jobs and economic growth. One of our objectives as Charter Champion is to encourage other local businesses to support the Charter in helping address the skills shortage in the local area.
